Areas chosen specifically for their wildlife photographic opportunities. These courses have been put together by photographers for photographers. Value for money is excellent, with quality guides, great accommodation, food and hospitality.

The focus of this course is to provide a basic understanding of animal behaviour and the sensitivities of working with wildlife to allow the photographer the best chance of capturing great wildlife photos. This is an ideal pre-safari option - so that you can then use your newly learned skills and apply then to your safari holiday, volunteer project or safari guide course.

It offers an enjoyable way to learn how to use your camera to the best of its ability or to build on the knowledge you already have. They are also great safaris!

Who are the courses aimed at?

Wildlife photography students getting their perfect photographs on the February 2010 course. Photographic workshops are open to all;

    We can also tailor safari trips to suit professional photographers and just provide the guiding for you.

    Although this wildlife and nature photography course aims to base itself around digital photography for compatibility with post outing workshops - all camera formats are welcome. The course is not a digital workflow seminar but focuses on maximising limited opportunities with wildlife and will emphasise on the following themes:

  • Equipment - camera body; lenses; flash; camera support; filter; converters
  • Techniques:
  • camera support; composition; focus; background & edges; depth of field; modes; shutter speed & aperture; exposure and metering light
  • Understanding light
  • Working with flash
  • Composition (especially relating to wildlife)
  • Film - slide film; print or colour negative & digital
  • Animal behaviour; bush sensitivities and ethics

    • Lion by Sean Pattrick. Wildlife Photography courses are held near to Kruger National Park South Africa. Timbavati, Klaserie & other Game Reserves.Camera body lenses (longest should be 300mm or more)
    • Camera manual (Very Important!)
    • Film for film cameras
    • Flash if you have one
    • Tripod if you have one
    • Beanbag if you have one
    • Your own card reader for YOUR card (with USB port)
    • Lens cleaning / sensor cleaning equipment etc…
    • Laptops should you wish
    • Warm clothes for cool winter evenings on an open vehicle
    • Cooler wear for hot summer days
    • Hat & sun cream (all year)
    • Binoculars if you have them
    • Something to clean your equipment
    • Malaria prophylaxis

    Please note: You will have to ensure that you have adequate insurance in case of accidental damage or loss of property during your trip to South Africa.
