Projects and opportunities in the Botswana & South African wilderness
Botswana Conservation Project
This is an exciting opportunity to help out with conservation efforts by assisting with research on Leopards and Elephants whilst experiencing the amazing diversity and wild landscapes of Tuli, in Botswana.

Elephant Whispers Volunteering Project
This project offers the opportunity to work on both community based projects and wildlife based projects, during intensive 14-day, 28-day, 42-day and 56 day programmes.
The program focuses on the Conservational aspects of running the conservancy and wildlife in conjunction with the community, the animal husbandry aspects of looking after the elephant, horses and cattle as well as the Community projects.
Running the conservancy will require that students participate in activities such as anti-poaching patrols, fence patrols, bush clearing, maintenance of infrastructure, research on wildlife and flora within the reserve and at times game capture and release.
This course is very hard work, but offers reward and a BIG sense of achievement!

Balule Conservation Project
The Balule Conservation Project, offers an amazing opportunity to be involved in the conservation management programme for the beautiful Balule Nature reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Participants will undertake daily game drives to capture data on the wildlife population of the reserve - which has all of the Big 5 as well as many other interesting species, including honey badgers and civet cats. Other conservation activities include vegetation studies and alien vegetation removal.
Accommodation is in our atmospheric bush camp with stunning views across the savannah even from the shower! The camp is unfenced, allowing unrestricted movement of wildlife.

Chimp Eden Volunteering

The Chimpanzee Sanctuary Training Course runs for a minimum of one week. Monthly courses are also available. Courses begin every first Monday of each month. To attend our course, volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Prior experience or education in this field is not necessary.

For the first week of the course you will receive one lecture per day, which focus on the history of chimpanzees in Africa, chimpanzee diet and behaviour, environmental education and sanctuary management. The main emphasis of your volunteer work will be on chimpanzee behaviour monitoring. Due to health and safety precautions, there is no chimpanzee handling for volunteers.

Horse & Conservation Course

The horse and conservation course is for anyone who has a passion for horses and wants to experience and learn about the African bush. You will spend your days caring for and riding the horses on the reserve amidst plentiful game, whist also taking part in a well-structured and extremely informative equine and conservation course. This will teach you all you need to know about the African wildlife and conservation, together with the vital aspects of the equine care
The project is geared to a relaxed outdoor lifestyle where people, wildlife and horses mix freely in the African wilderness. They have a ‘work hard, play hard’ attitude. Many volunteers return each year, and they have employed two previous volunteers permanently on the farm to help support the programme.
