Clothing, Footwear & Accessories for your trip

Afreco Tours recommend Khaki and neutral coloured clothing to assist in blending in with your surroundings. Bright coloured clothes and accessories can frighten wildlife away and is generally not very sympathetic to the environment you are in.

Fitness footwear offers a large range of shoes for your travels, ensuring that you will have adequate footwear for your trip. We would recommend that you invest in a high quality pair of walking boots, or alternately a pair of walking shoes (but remember that these offer less support around the ankles potentially leaving you open to sprains and strains). Boot Brands such as Brasher and Salomon have been popular for many years by travellers after a bullet proof boot that won’t crumble under the pressure. I hear of people using "Fit Flops" to build up leg muscles prior to long expeditions too, one to think about.

For those of you after some casual footwear, we’d recommend that you look at a pair of Merrell trainers; they have some great approach type shoes that will also be suitable to take along with you. The intercept is a great Merrell shoe that crosses casual and functional uses well. Don’t forget to take along a decent pair of insoles if you regularly get sore feet. These can be a great way of increasing the distance that you can comfortably travel.

Pick you socks well too, we recommend that you take some good all season socks, and brands such as Smartwool and Teko make merino wool socks that will keep you cool, as well as warm when needed!

Always a pack a light pair of sandals, Crocs and Birkenstock do some pretty light pairs that aren’t that expensive. It’s great to be able to take your boots off after a hard day trekking and slip into something a little more comfortable. If you really want to get those leg muscles working - why not try Skechers Shape Ups
