This is a further note from FGASA written for our supplier |
The
Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA)
represents individual field guides, trackers and
Field Guide training providers. It is responsible
for regulating standards within the guide training
industry in southern Africa
Our supplier, EcoTraining (supplier for Afreco Tours Ltd), is endorsed by FGASA, which means the standards of our training adhere to and are recognized by this body of nationally accepted standards.
If you are not taking up Field Guiding for a career, then in order to complete the Level 1 and 2 courses, writing and passing the EcoTraining tests and practical evaluations listed on the level 1 and level 2 course pages is sufficient.
However, if you are training as a Field Guide for career purposes, in addition to writing the above EcoTraining tests and evaluations, we also make it possible for interested parties to write the FGASA Level 1 theory exam and do the practical evaluation while on course with us.
*** We do recommend, whether you are a South African career or international student that you buy the FGASA training manual from FGASA or at the camps. If you do not plan to write the FGASA tests, the learning material in the manual is very useful and comprehensive in any case.
Please note that if we do a FGASA Level 1 practical evaluation for you, there is an R150.00 (or approx £10 on 02-07-07) moderation fee that is payable to FGASA. Please bring this amount in South African Rands (cash) to the camp.
When registering for the EcoTraining course, please notify us if you will be doing the FGASA Level 1 qualification.
