The Adventure / Safari

The EcoQuest is a fascinating nature programme based on the Safari Guide Training Course. Ideal for those people who want to obtain an in-depth knowledge of the amazing variety of living organisms that exist in the African ecosystem and in nature around us.

In addition to learning about the behaviour and identification of many of the myriad insects, spiders, scorpions, other small creatures and birds in our ecosystems, you will also learn about the underlying elements that support this amazing variety of life such as the geology, soils, plants and climate.

Testimonial:

Dear Afreco,

Just back from the EcoQuest course which I would highly recommend to anyone, it was excellent. Pafuri is an outstanding location Group of 15 like minded people ages from 30 to 70, from all countries Holland, Switzerland, Germany, South Africa Accommodation and food were very good Organisation was very efficient You spend half a day walking and the other half in the jeep ~ so if walking in the morning it would be a 4 hour walk stopping and learning as you go. They also have a morning lecture and so the day is really very full I am interested in other such projects for 2011 and if you have any suggestions then they would be welcome.

Best wishes, Peter

All the big predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and spotted hyena occur on this game reserve and they prey on the variety of plains game species such as kudu, impala, duiker, nyala, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and warthog. Spending 8 hours out in the bushveld every day provides countless opportunities to study the various animal tracks and have the opportunity to track and find the game on foot or by vehicle!

Accommodation & location

Accommodation is comfortable here but not luxury - you will stay in walk-in safari style tents on the ground at Karongwe and on raised platforms in Makuleke.

The Ecoquest trips run at two stunning camps, Makuleke (in northern Kruger) and Karongwe actually on the Karongwe Game Reserve, please check the details of these reserves via the hyperlinks here or from the left hand menu. Please not that most of the 2008 courses are held on the Makuleke camp with the September course being held on both Makuleke and Karongwe camps.
