Tuli is not known
as 'The Land of Giants' for nothing, with giant
boulder-strewn kopptjies, the mighty Limpopo
River and the largest land mammal, the African
elephant, all living in this vast wilderness; it
is a truly dramatic landscape.
Some details about this trip...
The workshop will focus on the elephants and
their daily movements to and from water during
this dry period. The dust and dramatic
landscape will provide ample opportunity to
capture some great images. The golden back-lit
elephants providing the focus while at their
feet smaller creatures such as guinea fowl
scratch in the dust throwing up golden halos.
The day will begin with coffee and tea before
setting off for a well used water hole to set
up and photograph all the animals as they
begin their day and arrive to quench their
thirst after a long night avoiding predators.
Once the sun is up and the light too harsh for
cameras we will return to camp and a brunch
followed by a short lecture for the novice
photographers. Then there is an opportunity to
enjoy a short siesta before afternoon tea and
the next outing. The movements of animals and
the weather will dictate our movements and
photographic
opportunities
as we move with the
rhythm
of the natural world around us.
